Special Parish Assembly

Wednesday, August 14, 2024 ---  St. Micah the Prophet

Dear parishioner and steward of Annunciation,

Christ is in our midst! He was, is and forever shall be!

The unfortunate update on the Roof/Stairs/Plaza Project is that inconsistencies were found as the team reached the last two feet of the end/edge of the roof where the glass globes begin. Further investigation revealed that remnants of a prior attempt to reinforce the roof edge have allowed for rotted plywood and reduced/eliminated insulation around the edge of the roof. The pictures below illustrate the severity of the issue we now face. This is all despite our most thoughtful and careful approach to this very large project – an undesired and sad reality for projects of this magnitude.

The fortunate update is that Norm Eckstaedt and our Stabilization Committee are working closely with our Construction Management and Architectural Firms to make sure this issue is addressed properly and effectively. The estimated cost for this unforeseen expenditure is roughly $100,000. The Stabilization Committee is also in contact with industry professionals from the Metropolis BPA Committee to ensure thorough review and proper protocol are completed. The Parish Council is acting promptly by calling the Special Assembly and meeting to discuss funding options to present for Parish Assembly review & approval.

Most importantly, we know Wisconsin weather can be unpredictable and the roof needs to be completed in temperature conditions above 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but WE CANNOT PROCEED WITHOUT PARISH ASSEMBLY APPROVAL for which WE NEED A QUORUM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Missing quorum will require us to call another Parish Assembly within 21 days (at which point we can vote without a quorum); this would further delay the process and possibly cause more roof decay and even more costly problems. The Parish Assembly should take about 30-45 minutes, and supervision will be provided so parents with children can also attend. Please make every effort to come!

In Christ, Fr. Ciprian Sas, Parish Council & Stabilization Committee
